What, don't you play D&D in steam tunnels? Best way to get your group in the mood for a nice sewer-crawling game, IMO.
We don't have steam tunnels, but we do have lava tubes (some are still active).

She mentioned it not as an in joke, but because one of the characters was living in the tunnels. It was not mentioned out of context in any way. I found it to be a quirky mention of D&D in a non-negative light - aka, a good thing.

Meh. We've seen D&D portrayed in non-negative light before (GE commercial, series finale episode of Buffy, etc.).

Of course, proclaiming you have played D&D can be a buzzkill for individuals (e.g., Vin Diesel). Even worse, we D&D fan laughed at their downfall (e.g., Vin Diesel). The moral of the lesson: Don't support fellow D&D gamers, both active and inactive.

For what it is worth Vin is still one of my favorites of the "current crop" of movies stars. I enjoyed Pitch Black, Chronicles of Riddick, Fast and the Furious, and even the babysitter movie. Plus that one where he is a cop who's wife was killed by the drug lord and he hunts down and kills the drug lord, and a whole bunch of "minions" who got in the way.

So I am not "buzzkilling" Vin.

I hope there is another Chronicles.

No, but Vin is buzzkiling his career in Hollywood.

Then again, Tom Cruise* is in Hollywood, so maybe it is a good thing to get out of there.

*Still wondering if Katie Holmes had to carry Tom over the threshold.
