NWN: Opinions?

What do those of you who have played it think? Does it live up to the hype? So far, I am really enjoying it. The one thing I don't like is that you cannot equip your henchmen. Also, does anyone think AoO are kind of weird?

I have a P3 733mhz with 512MB RAM and a GeForce3 Ti200. I thought it would run poorly, but it is smooth at 1024x768 with 64-bit textures and Quincux Antialiasing.

Thoughts?

I like it. Yes it does take liberty with the rules but It is still a good game. I have yet to play multiplayer or with a DM has anyone else done this?

Why did you think that? That´s a good system. I´ll be playing on a PIII 666 Mhz, the difference can´t be that big right....

Runs smoothly you say..... *drools* got to get this game gaaah

Morrowind Begs Comparison

Having played a fair chunk both Morrowind and NWN at this point, Morrowind is vastly superior for single player - however single player isn't why anyone wants NWN.

The Aurora toolset is great for making dungeon bashes, not so hot for making truly interesting and unique environments used to facilitate good role playing =/

Frums i'm gonna have to disagree.
The Aurora toolset is amazing for laying out your setting..it is going to be the responcibility of the DM to bring life and roleplaying to the characters within that setting.
The reality that most haven't quite seen yet is YES for this game to really shine someone must play the DM.
In the coming months when module builders work their scripting magic the game will only shine when an active dm posesses those characters and runs them as intelligently and with as much purpose as the players have....

THAT is when this game will really start to show its teeth not relying on scripts and conversation tree's to hold the interest of the players but when the party realizes ANY and everything they do could have significant impact and purpose,Simply because someone with thought and purpose is running the show.

Let the games begin!

It will "shine" yes, but not to the point where I am going to even seriously consider moving my OpenRPG campaign into NWN.

Preparing a setting just takes too long for a weekly game. Yes you can largely use the same settings assuming you don't have globe-trotting characters, but the coordination of events, characters, and scenes would run the GM ragged in the NWN GM Client and Toolset, whereas a few words to paint a picture in PnP is a whol elot easier.

I want to be proven wrong, btw.

Play? I haven't had time to play. Figuring out the toolset and creating my adventures is taking up a good deal of my spare time. I have looked at the game a bit to get an idea, and it seems to play quite nicely. Somepeople are complaining about the henchmen, the view, the camera, but I don't think their problems, or even big surprises, if you followed NWN over the last 3 years :)

I'm going to be playing in a campaign that does just that, but I am skeptical. I never figured on transplanting my own campaign in NWN. Way too much work. NWN will be its own thing and my PnP game will be another.

I'm having a lot of fun with the single player game; I'm just starting chapter 2.

I've built and run a pair of "arena" modules, which are just basically a place to fight monsters and get loot. I did this just to test the DM client, but actually it turned out to be a lot of fun. I got six players who enjoyed it quite a bit (especially the famed "badger swarm").

I have ideas already for some more in depth adventures with NPCs, a choice of areas, more diverse foes, and even some minor puzzles.

As suggested by Eric in another thread, I'm putting [EN] in the name of all my module online (and using my online ID, Lazybones). When my online campaign is ready, I'll be hunting for players here.

Game on, LB
