NY Times article discusses death/survival of Star Trek

Let's be honest. Time is passing us by. Not everyone grew up watching Star Trek. Many people now have no connection to it. You hear from your older friends
Yes, we thirtysomething are considered older and deserve some respect, young man.

* wagging his cane at you *

:]

If anything, ask your older friend if he has the DVD or VHS (don't give me that blank look, you know what that is, child) for you to view.

Bah, In MY day, we had to walk uphill, both ways, in the snow, with no boots on in order to get our BETA tapes!

;)

Too bad that my day is actually considered the late 90's :uhoh:

Bad argument. Millennium is the best TV show hands down. No way someone would feel burned by it. ;)

But see, that's why it's a perfect comparission.

Star Trek: Various episodes and whole seasons = crap.

Millennium: First season = great. (I won't go into what I thought of the show after they killed his wife and had to finish it on X-Files.)

And hey, I'm 33. I don't remember the original Star Trek shows that well. I vaguely remember the carton. I'm not plunking $108 + tax down on what may have been a childhood fond memory. I saw some of the original Thundercats and Silverhawks not too long ago and I thought to myself, "Man, I used to watch this crap?"

Yeah, the 3rd season was a little...under par. At least they didn't kill Frank! And the season 2 finale when they did kill Katherine--best episode EVAR.

Really? Where did you grow up? I'm 35 and in the NYC market, I watched Star Trek from the ages of 4 - 18. In fact, I first learned to hate Yankee baseball in high school because it would displace Star Trek all summer long...

The great city of Chicago. I remember when we had channel 44 playing those old Marvel Super Hero Cartoons. "When Captain America throws his mighty shield!" and other goods like "Doctor Bruce Banner changed by gamma rays turned into the Hulk."

I'm not saying I don't remember any episodes, but I know I haven't seen all of them and I know I don't remember most of them. The most memorable thing is what we'd call the "Kirk" kick or the overheaded double handed slam. Ah, good old Captain... Oh yeah, and all the red shirts would die.
