Obscure Iconic Names!!!

Completely personal opinion:

I think it's fairly obvious that the Iconics should be the characters that are introduced and pictured along with the stats for a class.

In the PHB, this would only be Krusk, Devis, Jozan, etc.

Just cause a character has a picture and a name in a book does NOT make you Iconic.
I consider Naull, Regdar, Kerwyn and Eberk to be window-dressing - just giving multiple takes on certain classes.

There's only ONE Iconic character for each class, with few exceptions. Nebin is explicitly included and statted in the Wizard class section.

Well, that's an interesting point but if that was the case WotC wouldn't have had author T.H. Lain use both Naull and Regdar as main characters in the new Dungeon & Dragon novel, featuring the Iconic characters, called The Savage Caves. That book also features Lidda and Jozan as well. It's a fun read (I'm about half done). Here's what it says on the back of the book.

Between the mountains of the Merciless Range and the tall boughs of the Hellwood lurks a foul presence. Those who approach it, perish. Those who flee it are slain. These are dark times for the citizens of Fairbye, but there is still hope. Four heroes rise to the challenge, determined to save the small hamlet from the clutches of evil.

But will the heroes survive the depths of the savage caves?

Of course, you would have had to known about that (clairvoyance would be a wonderful thing). WotC really should be doing more to promote the new book series.

The second book in the series has also been released - The Livinig Dead. It features Devis and Mialee. Here's what it says on the back of book 2.

Hunting parties from an elven village are mysteriously disappearing. Similar mysteries plague a dwarven settlement on the far side of the mountains. Each side blames the other. Only a band of tried and true heroes can root out what sinister force manipulates these normally peaceful people.

But can they conquer that evil before the tribes go to war?

Blasphemy!
Why isn't my name included?

I, the greatest of all dragons, who survived the death of his heart, am not included in the list of the iconics? :D

Ok, so what type of dragon is Ashardalon? Red, Blue, Gold?

Give me as much detail as you can Ash!

Ashardalon is a Great Wyrm Red Dragon/Half-Fiend (Fire)

Full stats can be found in the Bastion of Broken Souls adventure on page 40.

I never stated that WotC doesn't view those I mentioned as Iconics, perhaps.

I believe the first example of this is that - hey - I just checked Enemies and Allies, and under their ICONIC section, it only includes those I mentioned (with the sole exception of Regdar - looks like he's the ONLY one that isn't in the class section of the PHB that is still considered an Iconic by WotC)

I was going to mention that I think they used at least Regdar in the D&D edition of Clue.

But it seems quite clear after seing Enemies And Allies that WotC considers just the PHB classes (and Regdar) to be Iconic.

The Cadillac of Beers

Don't forget:

Heironeous, Iconic Lawful Good God of War
Hextor, Iconic Lawful Evil God of War
Vecna, Iconic Neutral Evil God of Secrets

...and so on.

Or, as is more likely, they stuck to the original number of characters and colours in Clue, and some iconics had to be left out from Enemies and Allies because they ran out of space...

So if you're idea was correct, than the only Iconics are Regdar, Tordek, Mialee, Ember, Nebin, and Lidda.

Cause there's only 6 characters in D&D Clue. ;)
