[OC8] Issue #1: Opening Day

So what you're saying is, that you're hiring a group of super heroes to be your security guard? Is there something that makes you think that the situation warrants such drastic action?"
Jonathan was suspicious, there had to be something fishy going on, in addition to the shapeshifter.

"Don't worry," Mead replied, "Disney won't be turning you all into rent-a-cops. But this will be a nationally televised first game of the season with the governor on hand. A big reason Disney bought the Angels was to promote Anaheim tourism, and one of the reasons you folks were recruited was to keep the county's tourism flowing."

Stevens nodded. "He's right. We'll still be responding to all the standard super-emergencies - natural disasters, supervillains, alien invaders, the usual - but this should be an easy job to get our name in the public eye and make sure Disney gets the kind of publicity they want out of this game."

Mead nodded. "The Lieutenant is correct. Once this is done, you'll be almost entirely on your own, no corporate directives. And we haven't heard of any threat to this game, but as I said, with so many eyes on us, there's always the possibilty someone will try to cause trouble."

"So," Mead concluded, "unless there are any more questions for me, I'll leave you and the Lieutenant to come up with a game plan fo this Sunday. I'll be forwarding you all of our security and stadium info."

Trying hard to not pay attention to the almost naked Brad Pitt, Bruce turns to the conference screen.

"I guess thats alright then. But we don't have any idea what we are guarding against? We aren't many, and at a large stadium, it might be hard to cover everything if we don't know what to expect."

"Bruce, I don't thing they are expecting anything. I think this is just a way to introduce us and have us there in case some wacko tries anything," Brandon says. "I'm actually looking forward to having the OC8 and the name Phoenix finally introduced. Plus, if nothing happens we get to watch a great opening day game with the defending World champs - how cool is that!"

"I can cover much ground if need be, but I don't know about the rest of you. But I do think that it would be easier to fight the possible threat if we knew what it is."
Jonathan comes off the wall and leans to the table.
"But I guess every superhero has to start from somewhere."

"Well I'm gonna go wash up," Brad says, winks at Anh and gives a curious look at Bruce as he lengthens his towel just a bit. As he's leaving for the bathroom, he turns back to the screen and flashes that bright smile of his,"Mr. Mead, as long as we've got box seats for the season with free dogs and beer, I'm there."

"If you folks are willing to sign autographs, we'll let you have the best seats in the stadium," Mead replied. "Again, we have no information on any specific threats. This should be easy press for us both. If you have any questions, you folks know where to reach me. See you Sunday!"

With that the screen winks back to the logo of the OC8.

"Any thoughts on how to protect the game, heros?" Stevens asked.

OOC: Info on the stadium can be found here, including a seating chart.

Anh couldn't resist the sudden instinct to raise her hand like a student. When she realized what she had done, she turned scarlet and quickly lowered her hand. "Um...we could spread out and each take different points along the stadium so that we can get to any problems quickly and take care of it. We can also see if there are any threats to the game we can dig up," she spoke in a soft voice.

"Your right Brandon. I guess I'm just nervous, first time out and all that." Bruce grins somewhat self-consciously at bringing attention to himself. I need to get used to being with people again.

"Anyway, I think Anh has a good idea. Since we don't know what we are guarding against, if anything, we might as well make sure we have as much area covered as possible."

OOC: How much time to do we have before the game?

"Both very good ideas, Ms. Nguyen," Dr. Harrison praised with a smile. "Perhaps we can also position a couple of ourselves centrally to act as a fast-response reserve. From this map, it looks like most of the spectators are concentrated along two sides of the diamond. We could probably station someone on top of the stands at the home plate, first, and third base corners. We'd need one or two people down by the field, probably."

The professor frowned. "The two outfield sides look wide open, though. Without tall stands on that side it might make things easy for any troublemakers to get in."

He turned his chair to face Lt. Liberty, scratching his small beard thoughtfully. "Lieutenant, can you tell us anything about the supervillians and normal criminals who either operate in the area currently or have in the past? Especially anyone who could fly or leap over the walls."
