D&D 5E [OCC] Against the Slavelords PBP

Well I'd certainly want the ring. Very useful for any caster! But Levanna already has three items. Unless perhaps someone would like one of them?

Winged Boots, Bag of Holding, and Bracers of Defense

I'd rather keep the bracers though. My AC is pretty bad without it...

I don't have my DMG with me at work but I think the only item that Levanna has that requires attunement are the Winged Boots... but I don't remember. I will check tonight when I get home :)

I agree it makes most sense for Levanna to have the ring. Quellathe is proficient with the longsword, and the +2 would offset the lack of any strength bonus. On the other hand, it would make Uhtred even more effective in melee, and Quellathe's two scimitars are finesse and thus dex based. Plus they fit my image of her better. I guess I'd lean toward letting Uhtred have it unless he doesn't want it.

Looks like the Winged Boots and Bracers of Defense are attuned. Levanna will take the ring then. I just don't want to hog all the magic items if there are people with two or less. If someone with two or less wants a magic item I can offer the Bag of Holding or the Winged Boots :)

As for identifying items, I looked it up. The short version: either method works almost equally well.

Longer version: By default, the only advantage that an Identify spell offers over just spending a Short Rest with the item is that you can only learn the properties one item per short rest by just spending time with it. Neither method will alert you if the item is cursed or not and since Identify takes 10 minutes to cast as a ritual, that already eats up most of the time of a Short Rest anyway. So it looks like the only time it makes a real difference is if the caster has prepared the spell and is using slots to cast it. However the DM can rule that only an Identify spell will work in his game (I guess to keep in line with prior editions).

Uhtred already has a +1 axe. While the extra +1 to hit will be nice the damage is about the same as the axe.

Also for role play reasons, i's like to keep the axe - it's supposed to be his only connection to his family. Also an great big axe fits better with my character image.

I'm off to enjoy a long weekend of face to face gaming and socializing with old friends. We will be in the un-wired wilderness of north central Arkansas, so I don't expect to post again until Monday. Tuesday if the socializing gets out of hand. Please NPC my character as needed.
