I don't know, you have to see the the unoccupied space if that is what you are doing, but the alternative says.
"Alternatively, you can choose a space within range that is occupied by a Small or Medium creature. If that creature is willing, you both teleport, swapping places."
But that leaves the question, why would you just out of the blue swap places with a character you can't see or communicate with.
It does make me think that we could regularly have Levanna misty step to the back of the enemy, next to the casters, then benignly transpose with Uhtred (or any other front liner).
The ability resets after casting a conjuration spell of first level or higher or a long rest. It's why I like the Benign Transposition and Misty Step combo to get someone out of a jam without putting Levanna in that same jam!
But yeah, she Misty Stepped out of the tentacles to chase after the witch. So she probably doesn't even know Tirion went down. Sorry KN!
I'm going to laugh if a piddly 4 damage breaks the witch's concentration. All I have to hope for is for Leva to find her, the witch to fail her dex save, and then fail a concentration check. Easy!
