Occupations for D&D

Well I got the SRD's for modern and D&D at work now ;) I'll work on a few and post them here to see what you all think.

And I was thinking of letting players taking aristicrat, expert and commoner as a "free" level but thought occupations would be pretty neat.

Here are some examples from the list I made.

Noble
You are "born to the purple" as they say, and come from a higher social class of people. The elite, and while the exact details vary from culture to culture you have more money, social credibility and power than most.
Prerequisite: Charisma 13+
Skills: Choose one of the following as a permanent class skill. If the skill you select is already a class skill, you recieve a +1 competence bonus on checks using that skill (Bluff, Diplomacy, Intimidate, Knowledge (Nobility and Royalty), Knowledge (History), Sense Motive, Speak Language)
Reputation Bonus Increase: +1
Wealth: Noble's Outfit, Signet Ring, Jewelry (worth 100 GP), 10 Platinum Pieces

Acolyte
You spent your youth raised in a temple or monastery. You may have taken sacred vows to be a member of an order when the time came, or you may have left the temple and not looked back once you came of age, but the fact that you grew up around clerics and monks (and possibly Paladins) has shaped you.
Prerequisite: Wisdom 13+
Skills: Choose three of the following as permanent class skills. If the skill you select is already a class skill, you recieve a +1 competence bonus on checks using that skill (Concentration, Decipher Script, Knowledge (Arcana), Knowledge (Religion), Knowledge (History), Listen, Spot, Speak Language, Sense Motive)
Wealth: Silver Holy (or Unholy) Symbol, 2 Flasks of Holy Water, 25 Gold Pieces

Slave
You were born into slavery (or enslaved at an extremely young age). You grew up with even fewer rights than commoners, used for the most harsh of labor or the most hazardous of tasks. Presumably you have escaped, won or bought your freedom, or at least now have a master who doesn't mind the great freedom you enjoy.
Prerequisite: Strength 13+ or Constitution 13+
Skills: Choose three of the following as permanent class skills. If the skill you select is already a class skill, you recieve a +1 competence bonus on checks using that skill (Bluff, Climb, Craft, Hide, Intimidate, Knowledge (Local), Profession, Sense Motive, Swim)
Wealth: Manacles, Lock (Very Simple), Dagger, 100 Silver Pieces

Personally, I use the Reputation bonus system from Unearthed Arcana in my games, since the many of the original d20 Modern Occupations also affected Reputation I figured it was a good fit. In a game where some of the PC's may be from a wide variety of backgrounds using such a mechanic to keep track of who is more well known can be mildly useful. I don't particularly like the Wealth system in d20 Modern, and I wouldn't use it in D&D, but in addition to just more money, I figure Occupations can grant more than just extra cash, like some minor items to reflect a character's background.

Classically Modern Revised

Hi Folks,

Classically Modern 1.0 incorporates classes from D20 modern, D20 Future, Urban Arcana, the expanded psionics handbook, the epic level handbook, players handbook, and DMG. Previews appear every friday, and the new books are coming really soon now...

I'm hoping to finish reviewing the occupations over the weekend, and I'll try to sneak a couple into this weeks Friday Preview (any preferences to which?). I was hoping to have some of the revised work available by now, to it's proving to be a more time consuming process than I have time between bouts of work-supplying-money-in-an-office(tm).

All of the 170+ talents trees (from Ace Pilot to Xenology via Instinctive Caster, Personal Staff and Seige Engineer) are done, the feats are finished. Base, Psionic, and Universal (low-FX classes like the mage & acolyte) are about done, and the other classes just need layout and fluff polishing. FX needs a quick once over to make sure that I'm not still using any of my renamed spells/powers, and Accessories needs the future stuff adding.

All told, there are 300+ pages of rules, which will be split into a number of modular downloads so you only need to grab the things you want (All free, still all free).

With a steaming keyboard

Antony.

I must say, I love Classically Modern, and can't wait for 1.0! Heck, I want to run a campaign using it already (though, I don't really have the time, right now at least).
