but I would just have modifiers, and if you need ability scores:

0: -10 ability drained totally
1: -9
2: -8
3: -7
4: -6
5: -5
6: -4 min score for rolls
7: -3
8: -2
9: -1 min for point buy
10: +0 Average score

11: +1
12: +2
13: +3 max for point buy
14: +4 max for rolling
15: +5 max score without magic

16: +6
...

default array: +3,+3,+2,+1,+0,-1

no racial ASI's

If we make ability scores complex numbers, with both real and imaginary components, where the real value is used for offense and the imaginary value for defense, then all we have to is multiply the attackers attribute by the defenders attribute to create a new complex number....oh, I almost forgot, we want to do this in base 6 instead of base 10....
