[Odd] The Balance of Cool

Khorod

First Post
If a 'Cool Factor' was an official, distinct part of game balance, how would D&D change?

I think assassin might have to be an Epic PrC...

Monks would be playable. ;)

Just kidding, really. You know, I used to have a set of rules for determining coolness factor and using it for NPC reactions... but I can't find it any more. Dug it up on the net years back, and I guess it got lost last time I moved over to a new computer...

Well, Bards would definitely have a cooler name, like umm, i dunno, "Sonicist" or somethin. And their instruments would all morph into magical sharp melee weapons instead of trying to belt out a tune in combat situations.

Already this thread has proved one thing: We'd have as many argument about "What's Cool" as we do about...

Oh, every other aspect of the game.

I love you guys...

There was some mech game I used to play, way back, that had "Cool" as a stat. It was how well a character dealt with stress.

As far as cool goes though, is it cool while in action, cool while standing still, cool ideas, cool costume, cool weapons, or some combination therin?

Every character would have dark reflective sunglasses, that never fell off...no matter what. There hip outfits would never get dirty...no matter what... The party leader would always speak in prophecy, and answer questions with questions.

um... hate to bust up the party, but isn't it called 'Charisma'? The factor of 'I wanna be like that guy, or be that guy's friend cause he can get me into cool parties' has always been Cha in my game, and it's all about working the connections as long as the PCs aren't abusing them IMC.

edit: Ever play Shadowrun?
