Oddest research question - the price of sand.

So I just got off the phone with a man in Arizona, who works at a landscaping firm. I was trying to figure out the price of sand, because I really had no idea what it costs (it's for a D&D product, of all things). I looked around online for 5 minutes and could not just find "the price of sand," so I called up the first phone number I saw and asked.

Apparently, depending on what side of Gilbert, Arizona you're on, sand costs $24 or $25 a ton.

Depends on the color of sand, and any other qualities you want it to have. And you can always change the name, add some nebulous quality to it and sell it to gullible yuppies for double the price. Hey, it worked for 'organic' food, why not sand right? ;)

But the price is going to vary by state/country, how refined the sand is/particle size, etc.

Why on earth would you need to know this?

And besides, I think it would change greatly depending on the location as well. Like, sand is probably not terribly cheap in Alaska.

Actually, I think Alaska probably has alot of sand. One thing glaciers do really well is make little rocks out of big rocks, and sand is just really little rocks.

Iowa, on the other hand....

Cheers
Nell.
