You would think they could do that without the crowdfunding.

Now, a ToV or A5E remaster -- that would be worth backing!

I suspect they want to do Stretch Goals.

Stretch goals are usually an albatross, but sometimes companies pull them off well (Arcane Library, it seems). I am only passingly familiar with either Odyssey or the Norse one. I just wish 3PPs would make an effort to support the non-WotC 5Es.
What DOESN'T go through Crowdfunding these days. I was straight up shocked when Kobold Press, of all people, didn't do a Kickstarter to their ToV update of The Old Margrave and their ToV Book of Blades update.

And while I get the perks of Crowdfunding, the wait times are absolutely atrocious sometimes.

This may potentially be the last Kickstarter I back. I do like Odyssey of The Dragonlords (I use their Siren race for playable Harpies) and I have the Player Guides for both of their Greek/Norse epics. The fact they are combining em together is what intrigues me the most.

It seems the only people who didn't know about the RPG are people who play fantasy RPGs
That's not really true. Very few people seem to be aware the RPG exists let alone was released not just "people who play fantasy RPGs", but even if it was the latter, that's like 90% of the market lol given how dominant D&D and others are is. So a pretty peculiar situation.

The videogame is being reasonably well-advertised, assuming it's 1-2 years from release (it's getting a lot less coverage than expected if it's coming out sooner but I doubt it is). The RPG though, was shadow-dropped. I don't know why. There has been some post-release coverage from WotC, but it's very strange.

My guess is they expected the videogame to be a lot closer to release by now (otherwise the book, secret lair episode, TTRPG etc. were a bit premature and likely to be forgotten because they're outside the hype-cycle, not a huge problem though), and that's not a criticism, except of whoever planned this marketing strategy. Videogames take a long time to make! This one probably needs a while more in the oven. If WotC gives it that, and it gets released in the best possible state, great! I do think Archetype need to consider whether they have a game that needs to be a 9/10 or higher, or just an 8 or 8.5/10 kinda game. Because I'd put it to them that, actually, the latter is fine. You won't get the insane sales a 9/10 will, but some games just aren't going to be a 9/10. Like the elements just aren't there. So whilst I'd never advocate releasing too early, there's probably a point at which you accept this is the first in a series, and if you get an average of 85% on this, you can probably get like 90%+ on the next, and so on.

So, interesting thing at least if Im reading the sales pitch on the link right, this new set ONLY seems to cover Odysseys Of The Dragonlords adventure path wise.

Oath and Ruins seems to be something that can be used as a prequel/lead in to Odyssey of The Dragonlords and is one of only two things that involves Grimnir outside the Players Guide.

So while you get both player guide options combined together as one of the four books, your still stuck with Raiders of The Serpent Seas 2014 as it is currently.

And if that's the case, I would not be surprised if Raiders of The Serpent Seas gets a similar treatment if this Crowdfunding does bonkers.
