From the looks of these paintings, the new movie is following some cues from the old movie. Notice the look of the Fortress and baby Kal-el's spaceship.

This movie is a 'sequel' of sorts to Superman I and II, that's why the Fortress and the spaceship (which is NOT baby Kal-El's ship) look familiar.
