OFFICAL ERRATA: Hit points *DO NOT* change in polymorph

Why not just get the party wizard to cat the spell on you and save a lot of money? Its not a personal range spell.

Weeell, there's always avoiding the prospect of sucking up vital 9th level spells. This way you put the spell into the ring during down time.

But a more amusing prospect... Shapechange item, 2 times per day, should cost 183,600 gp. No need to bother the wizard at all! :)

And, hey, how much more Shapechange do you need?

And for epic fun, continuous Shapechaging vestment for 170 minutes (at which point you have to switch to a form where the vest can be used to activate again), 459,000 gp. What a bargain for the power to pretty much take any form at any time.

If you want a rogue with polymorph, spring for something like an elixir of morphing (polymorph) for, oh, 1,400 gp each.

If your GM is a hardass, a ring of spell storing for 50k and a cooperative wizard can do much the same. 50k gp up front, which is hefty, but over the long run... shouldn't be so hard by about level 13-14, which seems reasonable to me. Assuming polymorph used to be a 4th level ranger spell (which I imagine is the case), a ranger couldn't cast one until 14th level, anyway.

Actually in 3.0 I used a wand. Which besides wealth guidelines you could do at 1st level. I think I was 9th or 10th level when I got the wand. As for the wizard being cooperative, He anything but. I have to watch my behind or be hit by artelliry.

Oh, duh. Sorry, I started a shapechange thread and got muddled. ;)

Still, sometimes you want people to cast their own stuff... and as a 4th level spell, a ring of spell storing is a more reasonable 50k.

And a ring (or something) of polymorph 2/day would be 22,400 gp, which isn't so bad. Granted, midlevel stuff...

Or even cheaper, an elixir for 1,400 gp.

What I'd probably do is hope the wizard can cast it. If not, have two or so elixirs for emergencies.
