One of the things I really love about Vault of the Dracolich; it has a player map. You have a map of the dungeon scrawled by past adventurers with notations about monsters and threats they encountered along the way many years ago. The inaccuracies (deliberate), the remarks scrawled in the margins, and the fact that your heroes are going in armed with proper fore-knowledge of the place they're attacking really helps sell the feel of the adventure.

Yeah, that's really great. The mystery and drama of stepping foot into an unknown, unmapped dungeon is one thing, but there's often *more* excitement and interest to be gained in an adventure that allows the PC's to make a plan, however flawed their information might be. Walking blind into a potentially lethal death-maze should never be plan A!
