Official Type LOST Predictions

I’m watching the episodes of LOST on DVD. New episodes start in a month or so.

Below are my predictions for the new season.

Character Deaths: Four

In season one, the shows writers and producers killed two named characters in season one (Boone and Arzt) and a couple we never really met (the woman who drowned and Scott… or was it Steve?). In season two, they killed three characters we knew (Shannon, Ana Lucia and Libby). Michael and Walt also left the island. So five characters are gone and not to return, except in flashbacks of some sort. They may want to raise the stakes.

Characters Who Will Die: Charlie Pace, Claire Littleton, Danielle Rousseau and one of the Others we don’t know well yet but will as the season progresses.

Charlie Pace has kicked drugs twice and more or less come to terms with his past, so he has limited potential development. He is also funny, but so is Hurley, which makes Charlie’s role in the group slightly redundant. Further, he is in obstacle for the Other’s getting the baby. Lastly, his death will make people sad.

Which leads to Claire Littleton. The Other’s still want her baby, in all probability. She’s not going to give it to them, even if they ask nicely. Also, her death will make people sad and angry – it is all about eliciting a response from the audience. So, she also dies.

Danielle Rousseau is looking for her daughter Alex. She will met her daughter, have just that much resolved, when the Others decide they’ve put up with her for long enough and kill her.

It’s already been stated by the shows producers we will meet more of the Others. It stands to reason at least one, if not more, of the Others we get to know on a first name basis will die before the end of the season. Alex is a good candidate – she has willfully disobeyed the Others, and so may need to be “punished,” in addition to tying up her character and Danielle Rousseau nicely.

Important Characters: The usual suspects of Jack, Locke, Kate, Sawyer, Hurley, Sun and Jin, Sayid, Eko along with new comers, Henry, Desmond and Juliet. Possibly Tom, Pickett and Bea Klugh. That is still (13+) a mess of characters.

Most Shocking Flashback of the Season: Vincent. The Dog.

I think this flash back will provide a connection between Vince, Popo (Jin and Sun’s dog), the black horse Kate saw, the tree frog Sawyer kills, the polar bear Sawyer kills and the shark with the Dharma logo…. Are there any other animals I am missing here?

Well, if the writer’s don’t do this, then they are really missing an opportunity.

Second Most Shocking Flashback of the Season: Tom, of the Other’s, will have a flashback revealing him to be the real “Sawyer” who so damaged James “Fake Sawyer” Ford’s life oh so many years ago. I’m a little surprised I’ve not seen this as a theory.

1. Some have speculated that Tony Cooper, Locke’s SOB father, was the “Real Sawyer.” While the behavior is right – sociopath user of people – if Cooper were the “Real Sawyer,” there is no real way of ever having James confront Tony, unless Tony somehow got to the island. And that would be too convenient. However, Tom is already on the island, and thus convenient. Further, Locke’s father is Locke’s to deal with, not James Ford’s issue.

2. James Ford and Tom have an issue already. Tom shot James while they were on the raft. Later, when James Ford and Tom meet in the jungle, with Locke, Jack and unnamed torch bearing Others, James tells Tom that “It’s not over between us.”

3. Tom’s name, then, would apparently be “Tom Sawyer.” Granted this is a bit on the noise, but it still works. And the writers of the show like their literary references. The literary Tom Sawyer was a charmer, who liked the girls and conned a number of people into painting his fence.

Think about it…

But what do you think?

Not to be rude but Hurley's looking to be mighty delicious if we can get him buried in an imu. Ironic, a fat dude telling a fat joke. Seriously, I can forgive the Skipper on Gilligan's Island, but Hurley on Lost? :]

Assuming you're commenting on Hurley's weight, I read that Jorge Garcia lost 30 pounds over the summer, so that will show up a little bit as lost weight (though not much, as he's likely still got 100 pounds or so to spare).

I predict that what will be Lost in Season Three will be around one-third of the viewers as the novelty of the show has worn off.
I am not feeling it as once did. I hope that changes when it starts.

Figure the bird will be in this season more, building a relationship with Hugo.

Yeah, and through the camera lens, which makes the picture adds 10 pounds to one's body, so he'll look only 20 pounds lighter.

In a show filled with flashbacks that have characters meeting characters or just being shown in the same area, you really think that would be seen as too convenient??

The bird? What bird? I somebody gonna give Hurley the bird?
I believe that in each season Hurley heard a bird sqawk his name. People who had close captioning also reported that at the time of the sqawk, Hurley's name showed up in the caption. I believe that in the first season it was when they were heading to the black rock for TNT.
