Offspring of an Elf(high) & Drow

I'd just choose one of the two races and give them the properties of that one. You can make the cosmetic stuff a mix and match.

Its always killed me that in D&D every race can and will interbreed with every other, without any consideration to a reasonable persons ability to suspend disbelief. A half-elf I can grasp, an Owlbear... I don't think so.
And don't even get me started on the following, the logistics of copulation just make my head hurt.
half dragons
half elementals
half ooze
insectile
half giant

Now I know many people will want to fall back on the "its magic" arguement, and to them I say: whatever gets you through the night. But frankly I think it is high time that these creatures be reclassified to what they really are Aberations (and of course take the appropriate reduction in BAB, saves, etc). I also believe it is high time for a new prestige class be developed, the Morality Police: Beastiality division.

As for a Drow/High Elf, I recomend a nice full-body zebra stripe tattoo.

What special abilities does the offspring of a high elf and a Drow have?

jh

If I remember correctly this was detailed in one of the many 2nd edition products and covered every basic race that had subraces. Choose one parents abilities (if they are different) and that is what the offspring is.

Assuming such a union ever occured, I would think the offspring would be Drow. The Lythari (which, I believe is what the Drow were called before becoming Drow) suffered a terrible curse at the hands of the Elven pantheon. It seems to me that this curse would pass on to any offspring of a Drow parent, especially one born of a Drow and an Elf.

Actually owlbears aren't created by owls mating with bears. Just the standard mad wizard's experimentation, though I guess that experimentation could involve spraying a bunch of owls with bear pheromones and letting them in a cage with a horny grizzly (oh, what a visual I just had  ).
