OGL Cybernet - D20 Modern Cyberpunk ????

It contains elements of a default setting, but it does not give an overview of the entire setting itself (e.g., regions, cultures, flora, fauna, etc.).

The OGL cyberpunk is much much more generic in nature.

Perhaps I should read the reviews, if the setting is bad or the mechanics is bad.

How about the photos they used for art. *shudder*

As for the $40 price tag, it got me wondering. Since it is OGL, does this mean that OGL Cyber is essentially d20 Modern with the WotC setting taken out and that page space refilled with cyber goodies.

I picked up Cybernet a while back, and thought it was pretty good. I had a chance to meet August Hahn at GenCon and he's a really talented guy, so I picked up the book more because his name was on the cover than anything. It's a stretch to say that it's a good value for the price tag, but I would rather pay the extra money to have it in full color. That's what I loved about it, I love a full color interior on a hardcover.

As for the game system, I was actually pleasantly surprised. I'd been (mis)informed that the game did not use d20 Modern as its base and was expecting another D&D based OGL game. The fact that it used the d20 Modern SRD tickles me pink.

Pick it up if you don't mind spending the cash. I've found it a fun read, and cybperunk isn't even a genre I play in.

I picked up Cybernet at Dragonmeet from the Mongoose stand. I may get to play this at somepoint and Cyberpunk is definately my genre (Burnt my GM fingers on Shadowrun throughout the 90's)

The small pictures of vehicles or weapons, etc are pretty lame though, I must admit, however some of the main artwork is superb - Gotta love the "decker" portrait ;)

I am not bothered in the slightest that it has no setting. This gives the GM freedom to base the game wherever, whenever. That is what I like about "toolkit" books - This is how it was sold to me by the guy on the stand.

I bought the book and was pleased. It took me back to the days of CP2020. There are a few glaring rules/information omissions, but overall I am pleased and glad I made the purchase. I am going to be looking forward to new books covering Cybernet. August mentions on the Mongoose forums that he is working on an erratta sheet. I only hope that the erratta will be released under the OGL as well.

What did you feel was a glaring omission, pray tell? I'm not familiar enough with the genre to really know its ins and outs.

Genre wise nothing was missing...it's not a setting book. Mechanics wise things like skills being called different things in different parts of the books, some class abilities not being listed/explained (which is what I am most interested in), the same with some feats, I think some purchase DC missing, confusion on how defense is supposed to work in the setting, etc.

None of the missing items are show stoppers but it would be nice to have the acutal info instead of making up house rules, I have to make up enough stuff...:)

For a good listing of missing stuff found so far follow this link: http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=676

Truly horrendous. Digital Burn is an appalling pamphlet. I don't know what's worse--the revolting excuse for artwork or the fact that this slim volume was actually released as a hardcover. Oh well, fortunately, no one bought it.

I guess the thing for me is that while I like the book itself I think it's alittle too pricey for what you get, thus I cannot justify buying it. The material looks great though
