OGRE (Oscillating Gyroscopic Resonator Engine)

Heretic of The Seventh Circle
I’ve always loved a certain kind of soft sci-fi device, where concentric rings suspended in a sphere, spinning at asymmetrical speeds, making cool magnet sounds.

So, I’ve decided to make them the primary magitech engine in my world of Chevar for flying machines.

But I also like crystals, and crystalpunk magitech, so rather than magnets or whatever, there are crystalline structures built into the rings and into the structure that holds them, that resonate in oscillating frequencies as the rings spin.

I know I’m basically using oscillating wrong here, but it makes the acronym work and that fits the world.

Like that but made of precious metals with crystals affixed.

Just sharing a fun idea, in case anyone is inspired by it.

This is pretty awesome, but there's something you don't know. There's a reason these devices appear across eras, genres, and/or games: they're time-traveling keys to a special dimension. And the power that owns them is one with which you don't want to trifle.

So power those flying machines, but don't say I didn't warn you.
