It's simple.
If you have the right GM and the right group of players, any game system can be fun!
I have no allegiance to a single system. I am quite happy to learn new systems, as I think the attempt to come up with "universal" systems is ultimately fruitless. It is better to tailor the rules to the specific needs of the campaign, rather than try to force the campaign into a given set of rules.
I like learning new sets of rules. On my shelves I have a couple dozen systems -- D20, OD&D, Ars Magica, Fading Suns, Unknown Armies, Over the Edge, Star Trek (FASA, ICON, CODA), Agone, Blue Planet, Nobilis, RuneQuest/CoC, HarnMaster, TORG/Bloodshadows/Shatterzone, Paranoia, Changeling, Rolemaster, Traveller, etc.
So, it's all good.
But, of course, I feel the need to get under the hood of any system I am running, tinker with it, and make it fit better into the world I have put together.
