IMC, I add the eschew materials, and the bonus metamagic feats at levels divisible by 5, like wizard.
I also have a house that allows wizards or sorcerers to replace Summon Familiar with any bonus feat of their choosing.
Aside from that, we've toyed with some different mechanics for spell casting, including spell chaining. If anyone is familiar with Sean K. Reynold's spell chaining rules, ours is an expansion of that. They're cool, but at the higher levels, the sorcerers can get wicked powerful. It also creates a huge accounting nightmare for the player, especially for min-maxers, because they are forced into constantly tweaking their spells to maximize the effects of spell chaining.
Recently, I've liked the idea of creating specialist sorcerers. That is, apply the specialist wizard rules to sorcerers. So, a sorcerer could specialize in evocation, and take enchantment as a forbidden school (just making up something here). When the sorcerer learns an evocation spell, he gains an additional evocation spell of the same level. This can be done once per spell level. So, at 18th level, the sorcerer could end up getting 9 additional bonus spells, but each would have to be from the specialized school.
