OK, Who's Going to Gencon???

Speaking of GenCon--I'm getting a little put off by having to pay for every game I'm in. What is the chance I can get into games without pre-registering for an event? What if I want to just DM a pick-up game--is there a sign-up sheet in a central location?

As far as GenCon moving to Indy--I can't wait. I work within walking distance of the convention center. It will be sweet to see klingons in the Slippery Noodle...

Getting into games without registering is hit and miss. They've always had "generic" tickets that you can buy and use for anything that isn't full, or when someone doesn't show up to an event. Sign up for whatever you really want, then hnag out near things that you wished you had gotten to sign up for (when not already busy). It's very difficult at a large Con to not wind up twice as busy as you planned. There's always something to do.

...and...

That's the beauty of the big Cons, my friend. There are always people at the vast number of open tables and space running pick-up games and inviting just anyway who wanders by into them. You can do the same. Just grab a spot that is open, lay out your stauff, and put on your happy face (and maybe a makeshift sign).

I refuse to ask you to elaborate on that last statement... :D

FDP in the house!

The entire FDP crew will be in attendance . . .

INCLUDING CLAUDIO!!!! :)

This will be my first GenCon ever, so I'm actually getting pretty excited.

I'm hoping to get in at least one game at some point, though FDP duties will be a calling.

There are open tables, you say? Hmm, that's rather intriguing. I'll have to talk with the guys about this . . . . :D

Make sure to drop by the FDP booth and say hello!

Altough i did get a slot in one of MARK's games.

...and there will be prizes, aplenty, to be had by the victorious! (and a little something for all participants... :D )

Be careful what you wish for... ;)

Besides, it should be one of the FDP duties to play a game at a Con! Sales figures, be damned! :D

I agree COMPLETELY! :)

I'd like to make that multiple games, too . . . but the head honcho is still concerned about sales figures, which means spending at least some time at the FDP booth.

::sigh::

;)

Well, some time in the booth ain't so bad. It's a good place to pick up the ladies, I hear, unless I've been sadly misinformed about the demographics of conventions... ;)
