Can't believe we're eight pages into the thread and nobody's even mentioned Tales Of The Gold Monkey with Jeff Collins...

An American pilot with a one-eyed dog and a drunk mechanic flying cargo runs around the South Pacific Islands in 1939, mixing it up with lost tribes, American and German spies, the Japanese army and a Dragon Lady and her criminal empire... Did I mention the exploding volcano? Box set available if you can find it, but the pilot and a lot of episodes are on Youtube.

never heard of that one, though its definitely my kind of show!

I loved this as a kid, and have run it a lot in games, different genres, like sci-fi, did a nod to it in a book.

I tried watching old shows during Covid. UFO, Space 1999, Thunderbirds, Galactica originals, Buffy, Babylon 5, to name a few. I’ll never do that again. It destroyed the magic. I prefer my memories to the cruel fact that these shows didn’t age well. The acting in Buffy season one is really bad. I only watched 4 episodes and gave up.

It's definitely not for everyone but I prefer to get my nostalgia from the original source, rather than remake fan service.

I think its an expectations thing, I like the nostalgia of the old shows but accept that the general quality is not going to be up to modern standards or that some things that might have seemed cool when I was 10 are now just groan-worthy.
