I wrote a Planescape module once wherein Shakespear (a high-level Bard) utilized some demons to acquire as many monkeys from the Beastlands as possible. He then tasked an administrator Djinni to go through the volumes of works that the monkeys produced. He kept them all in the astral, on a near-infinite stone expanse, and chained them all to the floor with a keyboard in front of them.
He automated skeletons and zombies to go through replacing ribbons on typewriters, collecting papers, and refilling typewriters. In Shakespeare's lair, there was a portal to Gothic Earth (Masque of the Red Death) which led to a typewriter factory.
The PCs had been hired to find out where all the monkeys had gone to....

Mmmmmm, took them this long to disprove it, funding must have run out.
