Its our rights as consumers to comment on the fact that the money that we have/ might spend is being wasted.

If those precoius companies, how are in it for the cash, release stuff that is good then they get the congrats for that.

They put 20 "New" feats etc and then after reading it you find 15 reprints. So in my book thats called "False advertising!".

You get pats when you deserve it and a kick when you deserve that!

I still buy WotC books when they are WORTH it.

Those may be your rights in absolute terms, but that has nothing to do with what you are able to post or not post here. I'd like to see a moritorium on blanket statements panning products or companies please.

You are always welcome to say what you like or dislike about a product (although panning something that hasn't appeared yet would just make you look foolish). Just keep it to the specifics and avoid the tempation to fan out into generalities.

Seriously though - while I don't agree 100% with Baize (well, maybe I agree about 68.954% with him) about the pimping (it's caused me to buy a few products in the past) - I do think that Heap has a valid point. System/book/etc bashing has gotten a bit...repetitive.

As for d20 D*M, seeing as how I never ended up picking up the Alternity system hardcover of this, and was on the fence on getting it for pdf (I didn't want to handle conversions if I didn't have to), I must say - Nice move WotC. I'll pick it up, and I won't consider it a waste of money, even if its 100% reprints with d20 Modern conversions. Hell, I'm still looking for d20 Past so I can get it (and I've heard more than a few complaints about it). Yeah, I said it. I want d20 Past.

It is good that they do bring all the ideas together in one campiagn book, and that is a good thing BUT the statement of "New" is the major sticking point for me. New means new not a rewording and release of something I have already.

New is really a relative term, I would think. For example, Dark*Matter - at all - was "new" to me just under a year ago, despite it being around for 3+ years. So, a "rehash" to you doesn't mean its a "rehash" to everyone.

I'm curious who you think the "heavyweights" are, and what attacks were made by them. Personally, I didn't see any real attacks on individuals, just companies/products/systems, but I may have missed something. Correction. I found one. Sorry.

So, here's what I'm curious about for the d20 Dark*Matter HC....the "snow demon". I've never actually seen this adventure before (just read the multiple storyhours based off it), and wondered if this would be one of the first times (that I can immediately remember) that WotC would use the ideas found at the end of the Creature Factory section (the area where it talks about "certain mundane items can hurt, attract, repel, etc a creature). I'm not sure I've seen that idea actually put into practice by WotC, and it would be nice, cause I think its one of the neatest ideas I've seen in a while.

Oh, geez. Here we go again...

Their books have become a reprint haven, they tend to have LIMITED new ideas and it ends up being mostly rehashing of other books into this one book.

And yet it is a brand that everyone want, like D&D, which has been rehashed at least THREE TIMES. So "well, duh!" They're compiling it into one marketable product. It's the kind of kick-in-the-crotch boost they need for the d20 Modern line.

Then ignore the word "new." It's a revision, a compiled update for the d20 Modern rules. As long it has the fresh off-the-press smell (which is my definition of "new"), I'll be giggling like an Aussie surfer dude.

Out of curiosity, what's the actual ratio of new vs. reprint material i this book? 10% reprint? 20%? 25%? Does anyone have any more information on this? Or the reprint ratio in general for WotC, that would be interesting to know.
