On the Ship

Alistra listens to Richard's reply with outward calm. Her voice betrays her slightly as she replies. "Perhaps you would prefer to be returned to YOUR vessel then sir? Or perhaps the island you would claim as YOUR own? I suggest that your attitude change greatly since the vast majority of ships in these waters are crewed by people who would gladly sell you into slavery for a few coins or just gut you and feed the sharks as they pillaged YOUR vessel. Your actions have cost me, most importantly, and yourself a great deal of specie. Do something similar again and your welcome here will be officially over."

She looks to Morcano and Eisinrhyr for anything that they have to say.

Ezieer breathes a sigh of relief.. having avoided the stain.. the taint of the newcomers actions. He sees this as an opportunity to calm these stormy waters.

"Perhaps if'n 'dese landlubbers was knowing a bit about seamanship... which they obviously don't, they wouldn't make 'dere next foolish mistake so soon after this one. Meself and a few of your crew could school em into proper seamen of sorts. Give em something to do during 'dere, however brief it may be, stay about yer vessil."

OOC: Sorry I was having trouble here guys. I finally have access to the RP threads though (had to subscribe to the ENWorld group) and can post things up. I am a bit confused by a few things. I was under the assumption that what we found on the boat was loaded up and brought aboard the new ship. If it was not then I would have waited for however many trips were needed to gut the ship. (I had said this in the game session that they should gut the ship while we worked on the raft). What is done is done though I guess. Now to my response... Oh... and wth is specie? Apparently I've been cost a lot of it and that is a bad thing... OOC OFF

Richard raises his eyebrow slightly, "Cost you what? Before you found the ship dashed on the rocks I could only assume you had the same wealth as you do now. If you were hoping to gut the ship we have already done it. Nothing was left aboard of worth as I understood it. I am sorry that I've been charged a lot of specie... could you tell me what that is?"

"As for the island, how would I claim it as my own island? Nobody owns land... Regardless, if putting us ashore is what you want then very well and good. I am ready to go ashore. Just a general idea of the nearest port and I can find my way. If the island is abandoned then a port would do fine. I appreciate your rescue, but I'm sure you'd have us off your ship sooner rather than later and I am of the same mind and I have a feeling my companions have the same feelings towards sea travel right now. As for 'doing something similar', I am unsure as to your meaning. If you mean burning this vessel, I do believe I will know that I am no longer welcome if things come to that."

((specie was probably a typo, y'know....))

Theodus sighs and hangs his head, saying quickly "Please excuse the barbarian, Madame Karnom, as ye can understand 'e probably doesn't 'ave much experience with civ'lized folk....."

OOC:

I wouldn't mind posting but all I really know is that the ship was abandoned and burned. I don't think I have much to add as I wasn't really in the decision process of last session. Anybody have a log of the last session? Was I npc'd? Or was I just kinda not there that session? Any info would be really nice.

Alistra appears to calm a bit after hearing Ezieer and Theodus reply to her brief rant. "Perhaps your teaching him the ways of the sea would be useful, Ezieer. Mistakes of that magnitude are not often forgiven in these, or any other, waters."

She turns to Richard and offers some advice, "Specie is money. Gold. That ship was worth many, many times more than what you brought over on your raft. It is also something that I would have been happy to share with you and your associates in a very fair agreement. Given your attitude towards events I believe that I will exercise the right of salvage here though. I am claiming three-fourths of all treasure and valuable goods brought aboard my ship from the now burnt hulk. You and your associates may keep one-fourth. Your personal belongings are exempt from this only because I am a civil person. You should consider yourself lucky that I am the Master of the ship that rescued you."

It is clear to Azeem and Ezieer that Alistra is very upset about the loss of a potential salvage of the Jamaila. Ships are quite valuable and she and her crew all stood to gain a large amount of gold from such a find.

Theodus nods hastily and smiles. "Oh aye Madame, we are grateful you came to our aide an' have the mercy to let the matter o' the ship slide! Ye are certainly a noble and kind hostess! We will gladly take whatever salvage an' jobs ye deign to let us have, Madame." The dwarf seems reasonably sincere in his groveling.

"I do not agree to your terms."

"Theodus keeps touting you as 'civilized', but this is simply thuggery. You can steal what you wish from me, but expect to take it as a thief would." Richard spits on the deck. "Frankly, it would appear that we're in the same condition that we were on the other ship. A boat of thieves, thugs, and murderers."

"Share the wealth with us, indeed. What would your first act have been? After learning that we were alone on the ship and leaving it in the distance would you have circled back after delivering us to slavers at the nearest port? Bah," he turns to Theodus, "civilized rescuers indeed."

OOC: Check your e-mail Entropy... we need to talk. Everyone else read my sig and you'll get the idea.

Alistra has a look of surprise on her face after Richard's spitting on her floor. She turn to the captain and says quietly, "Get him out of here."

The captain smiles and stands. He chuckles quietly to himself before saying, "Time to go good sir." He is gesturing to Richard to leave.

Alistra then speaks to Ezieer, "Teach him a bit about the Law of the seas." To Theodus she also says, "You are his associate, perhaps you could teach him a bit about respect and how to show it?"

((Hmm... I didn't get an error or bounceback message either... give it a bit I guess.))

Richard turns towards the door. On hearing Alistra's comments as he is leaving he stops, turns his head back slightly and says, "Respect is all a man truly has, mi'lady. Only a tyrant would expect to strip someone of his self-respect and then have them gravel before her 'in respect'" With this Richard exits the quarters and walks out to the deck of the ship. He summons Redfang to his side and stands at the guardrail breathing the cool sea breeze and enjoying the sunlight.

He calmly stands reaching a meditative state and preparing his sermon of the unleashing of Typhus, God of Storms, upon this unfortunate boat by Talina for the insult done to her faithful follower. When he reaches a lightness of being deep in his meditation, he finishes his composing of the sermon and readies it as his final curse should this haughty thief-woman follow through on her true intent to slay or subdue he and his companions and sell them into slavery. Almost whimsically as he returns his full attention to the deck and the action aboard the ship, Richard wonders why he didn't just steer the raft ashore when he had the chance...
