Once again standing up from prone

I have a slightly different question (and my apologies for the hijack):

When someone is prone, could they make a 5ft step? Like is it possible for the prone individual to "roll" out of the way using that free action? Obviously they wouldent be able to stand up the same round.

Cheers,

Cheers,
There's a crawling action, it costs a ME action, moves you 5ft and you provoke AoOs.

Cool, thanks!

Looks like you have to bite the bullet. You might as well just stand up instead of crawling out of the way.

Cheers,

although not explicitly stated in the rules, it was something a player brought up at a game I was running awhile ago, and I thought it was a neat idea.

You can take a knee and get a bonus to your armor class versus ranged attacks.

What kind of action is it to take a knee?
What kind of action is to stand back up once you've taken a knee?

Would it be possible to take a move equivalent to go from prone to a kneeling position, without provoking and then with another move equivalent stand up without provoking an AoO? (like I said not in the rules, but I thought it was an interesting way of allowing someone to get up from prone without taking an AoO). Thus using a full round action to stand, but negating AoO's.

This is a very cool idea. I like it- I'll have to try to remember to bring it up with our group when we meet tomorrow.

Yeah, that proposal to take two ME actions to stand up without provoking AoOs was posted here some months ago in a similar kneeling thread.

D20 Modern has kneeling rules.

It's a free action to drop to a kneeling/sitting position but a move equivalent action to get up from it. Kneeling has half the bonuses and penalties associated with being prone. I'm not sure about how movement is, though.
