Once Upon a Rheim (Erekose13 Judging)

Nodis has been experimenting with his recently adquired powers these days, and found that, with some effort, he can create a four legged construct that lasts several hours -this eases Kali´s travel to a large extent-

"So it´s just a coupl days until we arrive, Oirhandir?" asks Nodis. "Do you know if there´s anyone there with abilities like my own? I was looking in orussus but wasn´t able to find anyone."

Oirhandir answered the magician with the strange mental powers. "Well, from the lay of the land and the tales I've been told, I believe we're getting close. And Rheim is a large city, even larger than Orussus, so no matter what you seek, the odds of it being there are greater than in Orussus."[sblock=OoC: ]If it's been "a few days", then everybody who leveled should have leveled, everyone should be at full hp, and Oirhandir should have a full complement of spells, right? Oirhandir started with over 2 weeks worth of rations, and didn't replentish in Covington since it had only been four days (although he didn't use up any rations in Covington, the Inn's meals being to his liking). We'll have to settle up the accounting when we reach Rheim, or sooner if we get delayed for some reason.[/sblock]

"Ah, good." is Nodis´ reply. "I may be missing something, only having myself to learn."

[sblock=ooc: ]I think we aren´t doing anything special today but camp as we do normally, am I wrong?[/sblock]

OOC: It's the close of 10 days at this point. There have been chances to buy food if need be on the way, I'm not too worried about that. The attack was night 4.

The night closes in, and Oirhandir and Kali's watches pass uneventfully. Lupic's watch seems uneventful as well till just as he is ready to awaken Nodis and Aiken, an orange glow can be spoted just over the horizon on the road to the south.

OOC: Lupic's the only one up at the moment.

[sblock=bront]I'll be away from an internet connection till saturday.
If there is combat I'll tray to trip opponents and flank them to get sneak att. opportunities.
Till saturday.[/sblock]

Lupic will wake up the two next watch people and point out his observation of light to the South
"Sky glow that way. Maybe fire or somethin."

Nodis has to yawn and rub his eyes for a while before the glow ceases to be an orange haze and becomes a nitid picture. "It sure does look like a huge fire" says. "And since rheim does fall in that direction I wouldn´t be surprised if the whole city is burning. Better if I wake Oirhandir."

And Nodis does exactly so, telling the elf what´s happening.

OoC: Waking an elf can be quite difficult, since they generally never sleep. However, Oirhandir would probably be deep in trance, so some intervention would probably be necessary to draw his attention to the glowing sky.

IC: Oirhandir peered at the horizon, trying to determine if the glow was indeed from a fire, or from some other source. "I don't know that there would be much we could do if the whole city was aflame, for that matter, we may still be a day's long walk away from it. Let us gaze at the glow for a while, and see if we can determine how far off the source is."

After studying the glow for a bit, it is simply on the road, and is not very strong, perhaps it is just over the horizon. If, indeed, it is a fire.

Oirhandir watched the glow curiously for a few minutes. "I think it is rather near", he announced, "and indeed, perhaps not a fire at all. We should mark whether it approaches us." He watched just a bit longer, trying to discern if the source of the glow was moving.
