One Collection to Rule Them All....ok, *two* collections....

Gosh, I live in Milwaukee and did not know this, but Marquette Univeristy has Tolkien's original manuscripts (for LotR and The Hobbit, among others) in their library. And they are getting ready to complete a major acquisition of more Tolkien material.

Details are at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on-line.

There will be a Tolkien conference here next year:

Interested researchers will be able to see the Funk materials in mid-2004. The collection will be available to visitors who attend a Tolkien conference hosted by Marquette Oct. 22 and 23, titled "The Lord of the Rings, 1954-2004." The conference is organized to mark the 50th anniversary of the fantasy trilogy's release.

Maybe we can convince Matty to schedule one of next year's Chicago Gamedays to coincide with a Tolkien event in Milwaukee. Then egocentric people like myself can kill two birds with one stone :D.

I'll actually be organizing a Milwaukee Gameday soon. If it goes well, Milwaukee Gameday #2 might just coincide with the Tolkien conference.....
