One hitting Pun-Pun...

Andor

First Post
11th Level Crusader...
-Aura of Chaos - Your damage dice reroll and add with max damage on the dice.
-Improved Unarmed Attack Feat - Allows Unarmed attacks for actual damage and is preq for:
-Dragonmark Fist Feat - Autoroll max damage with an unarmed attack for 1 action point.

So an 11th level crusader can punch for infinite damage for the cost of one action point.

Granted Pun-Pun has an arbitrary AC so you only connect on a natural 20, but infinte damage trumps infinite hitpoints. (I think?)

Is it wrong that a god can be one hit be an angry gnome librarian from House Sivis? Swinging a mighty d2 fist?

I think Aura of Chaos requires an actual roll.

Yeah.

So on that d2 monk, is there any way to decrease that do a d1? If a Gnome deals 1d2, does a Tiny creature deal a d1 and thus always rolls a 1, which coincidentally happens to be the maximum which can be rolled? :)

I believe that the notation simply says 1, which means that you don't actually roll. Good idea, though...if there's some way to roll a d1...

A d1 is actually a sphere. Since when you roll a sphere it will never stop (on the platonic plane), any time your d1 marble does stop, the die is gimped and requires a re-roll.

Since the re-roll will always be gimped, the game gets stuck in an infinite loop.

Don't do it. The d1 breaks the game.

Unless there's, well, friction.

Nonsense, A d1 is obviously a moebius strip. Of course a moebius strip is an infinitely long loop, and so is rolling an exploding d1. I'm not sure what happens when you nest infinite loops but I suspect you need a stunt mathemetician to find out.

Consider the interaction of Maximize Spell and Empower Spell. For a maximized, empowered spell, the variable numeric component is first rolled normally, and 50% of that (the effect of Empower Spell) is added to the maximum possible roll (the effect of Maximize Spell).

In the case mentioned above, I would rule that the damage should be rolled normally first to determine the effect of Aura of Chaos, and the extra damage from that effect added to the maximum damage from the base unarmed strike (the effect of Dragonmark Fist).

what book is friction from?

seriously tho,
no one has a problem with a d3,
but a d1 is mentioned and a fight breaks out ;)

The problem lies in die that have less than 2 sides. A d3 has more than 1 side, so there is no conflict :)
