"Now then let me see that," Hakon says taking the helm from Mister Bubbles. On the outside it looks ordinary enough open-faced helm. Hakon then tries it on.

Everyone watches as the man's face seems to disappear in shadows, and then a deep red glow erupts around his eyes, giving them a sinister look.

"Gasp!" *crash* Asa drops a plate on the floor from surprise.

"See," Bilkar says with a look of triumph on his small face. "Scary Helm."

Hakon removes the helm, and all though he saw nothing he is impressed by the reaction from the Nidar's wife. "I'll trade you, Master Gnome."

He pushes the case closer to Bilkar and points to each of the bottles as he describes what they do. "The blue one restores your vigor and closes small wounds. The crimson one cures exhaustion, disease, and poison. While the green is actually an oil. If you apply it to someone turned to stone they will be made flesh again."

OOC:
trading dread helm for:
potion of healing
potion of vitality
oil of stone to flesh

Mister Bubbles is impressed. "That IS a scary helmet."

He takes off his tophat and turns it over in his hands. "And here I am, wearing a hat and a suit. Not so scary at all."

The half-orc shrugs and places his hat back on his head, then turns his attention back to Hakon. "Are there many people turned to stone on the Lady's Island?"

Ivar had no magic, but he was a bit impressed by the helm, as well. Alas, too bad. But the potions would come in handy, no doubt.

“Escandor pissed off a lot o’ folk back in Thirsk,” he said. “Folk offerin’ guid money f’r ‘im t’ be dragged back. Sae we’re off t’ dae tha’. Ye said he took a boat. If ‘e didnae gae t’ th’island, where else wuild ‘e ‘ave gone?”

Bilkar collects the scrolls and potions eagerly. Apparently very happy to be rid of the helmet.

"Animals on Island with Ghost? Birds fly over? Man make good statues. Bilkar buy statue of Escandor if man has ready before Bilkars pack goes to Island."

"Oh there be birds on the island alright," Nidar says returning to the room. He carries a bunch of wooden goggles in his hand which he places on the table. "Bloodhawks to be precise. Which is why you'll need these."

Each pair is only two round wooden eye coverings, with a rectangular eye slit cut into them. They are held together by an adjustable leather thong. "Bloodhawks go for the eyes, these will protect yours from their attacks."

Bilkar asks about a statue, but Hakon shakes his head. "Sorry, but I'm not that good. To catch the appearance of someone." he answers solemnly. "And The Garden of Death was described as having statues of animals more than people. But we were told there were a few," he says to Mr. Bubbles.

"We looked for the boat on the other side of the lake this morning, and didn't find any sign of it. We assumed he went to the Lady's Isle. We could loan you a boat to take out there, and search for Althon and bring back our boat as well."

OOC: Still 5 hours of daylight left, if you wish to go this same day

the goggles take away the birds pack tactics (so no advantage for them), and give the wearer disadvantage on Perception checks

Wearing them around the neck means you can use a interact with object action to put them over your eyes.

Ivar eyed the goggles. Bloodhawks? Ugh. Well, maybe they would help with this infernal sunlight. He took a pair of goggles and slipped them around his neck.

“Seems this island is the place t’ start lookin’,” the duergar said. “We’ll take yer boat, an’ bring th’other back if we find it.”

Mister Bubbles nods to Ivar, then takes a pair of goggles himself. The half-orc slips them around his tophat, so he can put them on easily but without keeping it around his neck. He likes to have nothing else around his neck than a strange necklace that can be seen occassionally peeking from underneath his clothes.

"So we're not sure if he's on the island," Mister Bubbles concludes. "In that case I suggest we leave as soon as possible, so that if he's left already we won't have lost too much time."

OOC: Assuming that wearing the goggles on the hat is functionally the same as around the neck.

"Right then," Nidsar says with a smile to Lee. "We have a boat ready as we were going to brave the isle ourselves, but this is better. You all look able to handle trouble more then these old bones do."

With that Nidar leads the group back out to the lake. He and a few others see the group off waving and wishing them luck as they set out.

OOC: Ok just need....
A rower - Athletics check
A spotter (or two) - Perception check
A navigator - Survival check

OOC: Looks like Ivar is our best athlete. Bilkar our best survivor. Lee most perceptive. Ryder next most perceptive. Though all three remaining folk doing perception, can't hurt.
