Hear me out:
PCs are a party of dwarf adventurers. A buddy of theirs recruits invites them out (or hires them as bouncers?) for a very special evening of entertainment --- an extraordinarily violent tavern in a remote mining outpost is featuring a legendary dwarven skald, playing for a roomful of nearly feral dwarf miners.
But it turns out that there was a miscommunication, and a similarly named effeminate elven bard shows up instead, and expects a forture.
One of the PCs dwarves has to impersonate the skald. The elf insists that he's going to play. And it turns out that the whole thing is being used as a distraction for a giant heist.
It writes itself.
