Ongoing effects & Delaying your Action

BASHMAN

Basic Action Games
If a character has an ongoing effect, what is the impact of them delaying their action?

Example: My warlord uses a power that gives another character +5 to hit until the end of MY next turn. But I am delaying my action for 3 rounds, and the PC in question gets +5 to hit until then.

Example 2: My fighter has 4 kinds of ongoing damage and is out of healing surges. The cleric cannot get to me until next round, and the warlord can give me a free save at +2 on his turn. I delay my action so that I can get a free save & possibly be healed up before I take the ongoing damage.

You can't delay for 3 rounds. You can't delay more than one, unless making multiple one round delays.

You take the ongoing effect when your turn comes up, then you choose to delay. You still took the penalty and your turn still came, and went.

Of course, I could be quite wrong on some of that. -.-

See page 288 of the PH, under delay. There's an "End of Your Turn" section.

But ongoing damage is the begining of your turn...
Out of curiosity, did you even look at WotC_Logan's reference?

See page 288 of the PH, under delay. There's a "Start of Your Turn" section.

And just in case it's not clear...

Example 1: At the moment your Warlord delays, effect that last until the end of your turn and that are beneficial to you or your allies END. So no more +5.

Example 2: Your fighter first takes the start of his turn as normal, taking all ongoing damage as well as any other effects that occur at the start of his turn. If he's still alive, he can then Delay. Any harmful effects on him that continue until the end of *his* turn do not go away until he comes back from delaying.
