Online Role-playing

One of my friends and fellow players is moving a little out of the way for the rest of the group, but we wish to keep playing with him. I was wondering if anyone here knows of a good program to use while playing online, or a network, or any advice at all.

and actually irc works well to if you don't require such things as a battlegrid or mini's, you can get dicebots and what not.

The Wizards of the Coast chat site also has gaming rooms available for reservation, complete with dicebots. You can find their gaming calendar at http://www.geocities.com/wizo_dabus and you can email WizO_Dabus at dabus@wizardsmoderator.com to reserve a room.
If a game is a last minute sorta thing, they also have two pick-up game rooms for which you don't have to have a reservation -- they're simply first come, first serve.
