OOC: [4CtF]The Chaos Wars

On super powers. While being with strange and even extrodinary abilities are not unheard of, super powers as expressed in 4CtF are unknown within the world. Your characters will only have begun to express their powers at the start of the game for reasons as yet to be revealed.

I have lots of info on the setting but I don't want to drown you all with stuff you don't really care about. If you want me to post some information though, just ask. :)

If you have any player ready docs you want to email out I'm home from work this week. :)

Also, are there paladins of the church? Is there an melee weapon associated with the church?

For the most part, the general populance worships the Lesser as a whole. Partly so as to not offend any of them, and simply because there are so many.

Priests and their kind (read pretty much ANY Divine caster) are the exceptions to the above generality, instead singling out a specific God to give their worship. They still pay a lip service to the rest of the Lesser, of course, but they remain focused on their patron (the one giving them the spells)

So yes, there are Paladins, of the Gods who have them at least. And likewise, the Favored Weapon is whatever the God's is. All the Gods from the PHB are in the Lesser, and others as well. If you want to use a God not in there ask me about him.

I probably won't mail any player docs for now, simply because I'd keep having to go back and mail more as players joined. :p

I might see about making another post with game lore in a less narritive style sometime this week though. :)

I am in, too. This sounds interesting.
As I will be mastering around here, too, I'll have ample opportunty to post as a player, too.

Welcome gents! sophist, glad to have you on board! I followed your character in the PS campaign that recently started. Very inspired!

4CtF is one of EN World's own publishing endeavors, and one of the most successful. Just recently they released a Revised Edition which can be purchased here for roughly $8.

We won't be strictly using the Revised Edition (because me, the GM, has the original :p ) but I doubt the differences are many, and we can simply work them out over email or on the boards.

4CtF introduces lots of new rules, but the ones most pertient to this upcoming came are the Heroic Powers feat and the Hero class.

The Hero class represents weird powers a character possesses. Each level the Hero class provides a number of points called Hero Points (HrPs) which can be "spent" to buy these powers. There are powers for flight, changing forms, being unaturally tough/strong/fast, being able to shoot frickin' lasers from your eyes, and much much more.

The Heroic Powers feat is a feat which compensates characters who are below the average gold per level (as based on the chart in the DMG) with HrPs. Since your characters will be starting naked, and since magical items will be somewhat rare in my game, every character will be starting with the Heroic Powers feat (which will give you 3 "free' HrPs since you'll be short the money 3rd level characters should have)

Note if you don't want to shell out for 4CtF you don't have to. I'll help you allocate the limited number of HrPs you'll have from your Heroic Powers feat and you can simply stay away from the Hero class. 4CtF is designed so that the Hero class is balanced with the other classes, so you shouldn't be losing anything strength-wise. If you want more info on 4CtF you can check here on these very boards in the EN Publishing area.

Hope I can count you in!

You can also get the old version of 4CtF for $2 at RPGNow. That's under their order limit so you'll have to get something else too, but hey! it's almost Christmas!
