That works, I thought it'd be easier if I rolled the check and then posted the result as a IC post.
Sounds good. I forgot to mention the ice knife spell, which would probably immediately spring to mind for Zeth. However, the ice knife created by that spell explodes as part of the casting, so there'd be no traces left save for bits of frost/ice.

You can edit the IC post to add that if you want.

@Neurotic Hey, congrats on making it as high as you did in the Hackathon. That's an accomplishment!

What were you hoping to glean about the ritual of the murders with the Folklore check? And what did you want to know about off-road travel for Survival?

I have some ideas, but don't want to assume your intent.

Folklore: there are always stories about various weird magical effects of plants, of signs or minor rituals (think warding evil eye and similar) and in this case star patterns connected to death or rebirth or curse lifting...that kind of thing

Survival: some secret way to travel fast (think using rivers as roads or knowing about ravines that could be used for sledding quickly down in one direction to make the return faster (with dogs either left out that could be noticed if someone asks about the sled without dogs later) or with dogs riding the sled in which case it wouldn't be noticed normally, but maybe someone talked about the experience :)

Lumrolur didn't really whisper things under spoilers, he just speaks weirdly. If you understand Undercommon, you heard it

@Quickleaf hiding among tall folk or once he gets out...but if it's the fox and not group of people, he could reconsider, what is the relevance of one? Why is no one reacting? Are they common in the taverns?

Foxes are not common in taverns.

The fox has been keeping low under tables and chairs where humans and such don't look.

However, for shorter folk like the gnomes and fairy in the group...it can only hide behind legs and booths - which wasn't enough to stay hidden from you.

Looks like no else else noticed the fox yet.

Could have slipped in with all the people entering? Could be someone's pet? Something else...?

@Aethmud Great character entrance! Can you tell me a bit about Jack's backstory and personality. How do you think Russet and him know eachother?
Thanks ! I was thinking that Russet and Jack be acquainted with each other originally from the feywild, and have become closer due to more recent events.

Jack loves playing cards and sometimes gets in over his head with betting. Due to his gambling debts, he has been cursed by a feywild kingpin to be forever chasing his losses. Fortunately, someone else has taken a liking to him and is working to bend or break the curse. But Jack is not aware of any of this — all he knows is he’s got a heap of gambling debts, and a lucky streak that will wipe them all out is ever just around the corner. He’s an eternal optimist and a degenerate gambler. Often his worst gambling losses involve him being framed for cheating, or at least that’s his story and he’s sticking to it.

How about if Jack had been captured by bounty hunters, and had attempted to make a run for it when his captors were taking him over a mountain pass? Jack and Russet met while both on the run, and realized that the very same bounty hunters Jack had just escaped from were the very same that were pursuing Russet. Together, they laid an ambush for the bounty hunters, planning to trap them in a treacherous part of the mountain pass where two glaciers fuse together. Hiding nearby, Jack used spells to cause a couple of the bounty hunters who'd been keeping watch to fall asleep, and then some sort of charm magic to instigate suspicion and bickering among the remaining bounty hunters. The resulting confusion allowed Russet an opportunity to prevail in a 4-on-1 battle against the ambushed vigilantes.

The ambush on the bounty hunters may have occurred either before or after Russet's transformation from brown-orange fur to white fur. If Jack and Russet teamed up before that, the transformative event might have involved both of them, and a similar transformation could somehow account for a heightening of Jack's magical abilities relating to water, ice, and snow.
