We all know it's not a class feature, but most paladin players don't seem to realize that.

I'm now having an intense desire to create an elven culture in which it's forbidden to reveal or discuss one's gender, sort of like Terry Pratchett's Discworld dwarves. Then Vaarsuvius's androgyny would be perfectly sensible.

It´s a common misconception of young paladins that this class feature cannot be removed.

The first paladins looked hard to get a good storage space for a backup weapon and developed the Holy "Stick it in there" ritual. Later on paladins forgot the original intent of the ritual and included it in the initiation rituals for all novices. The ritual to remove the stick was deliberately hidden to prevent young paladins to stop in this holy ordeal.

You get the "Get it outta there" extraordinary class ability at 10th level. It´s a standard action. At 12th level you get it as a swift action or just use quick draw.
