Why are you guys so sure she's going to fall? As is she's the perfect foil for the Order.

And she pisses off the internet forum nerdery, which makes me happy. :)

How much Knowledge (religion) does it take to know that Liches return from destruction... furthermore, whats the DC to even know what a Lich is... or that Xykon is one?:p

I don't know, but it seems high enough that even Durkon didn't identify the risks correctly.

So we've got the "Miko should fall to evil!" faction, and the "Miko should die!" faction.

Am I really the only one in the "Miko should, after making a few terrible mistakes, realize the error of her ways, develop some humility, and become an ally of the Order when push finally comes to shove" faction? Frankly, I think that would be a much more interesting character arc, and be much more satisfying in the long run, than either of the other options.

No. No, you're not. ;)

Not the only one, but our group is a pretty small faction in the Miko-wars.

Seriously: I think Miko is all about how not all of the opponents a group will run into must necessarily be evil. Miko is a paladin through and through, but she's also going to be an adversary for the group. Will things stay that way permanently? Who knows! I think it's far more interesting for the character to hold true to her beliefs and still be a foil for the group, perhaps learning something along the way, than to become an evil opponent that the group can resolve their issues with through a fight. They already have enough of those types of enemies!

Sorry, but that makes only 3. I want to see Miko turn evil!

I had a whole stack of paladins as adversaries for my group.

... of course, my group were mostly evil... :)

10 + the monster's HD, and one needs a caster level of 11 or higher to become a lich - so the DC would be 21 at least. It's kinda wonky given the scaling nature of the lich/character level interaction, but 21 would make sense as a starting point.

Also, the hints about Redcloak's faith are pretty cool. Does this mean he's a cleric of a philosophy?
Not necessarily. There are several references to "his deity", but it's not been named. It sorta looks like he worships the Snarl, which is in itself an interesting idea, but even that's just a theory.

It would definitely be more true to the nature of the character. Certainly more so than becoming evil.

I'd add 'grudgingly' to the bit about becoming an ally when it really hits the fan, though. :)

Miko is like virtually every paladin I have seen played. Unfortuantely most players of Paladins go down the line of "My god is good, my alignment is Lawful Good, I'm always right" they play it with all the hubris of real world religious fundamentalists.

One player I had who could play both assassins and paladins with gusto had a different view. His was that Paladins are protectors and healers both of the flesh and the spirit. He didn't play it as judge, jury and executioner a la judge dread. He played it as his characters role was to lead by example and to help his fellow party members get over their problems... funnily enough his character played out much like Roy looking after Belkar and protecting the innocents from him. He also decided that having high Cha wasn't a excuse to browbeat others into following his restrictions, it was a way to convince in a nice manner what was good and bad.

As for his assassin characters... they made Belkar look like a choir boy both in stature and nastiness.
