Awesome Blow can be taken at large, but only ever knocks someone back 10 feet. I'd say the creature has an (Ex) ability that approximates Awesome Blow but allows for greater distances.

Sorry- you are, of course, correct. I should have added intermediate reasoning steps to my note above that it has to be size Huge. Namely, it swatted the horse too- and we know horses are size Large in the rules (though in the comic they usually look suspiciously Medium to me). Awesome Blow only works on creatures smaller than the swatter; ergo, CiD = size Huge or bigger.

But, Miko and Windstriker clearly sailed a lot further than 10 feet through the air, in their trajectory (parabolic or otherwise ) after being knocked through the wall (which Awesome Blow alone won't let the CiD do). So while it may or may not have actual Awesome Blow, it certainly does have something a lot more powerful.

I can't help thinking that part of the joke in this strip is that it's Rich's concession to all the people who've been asking to see Miko fall for the past several months.

I thought the same thing. Perhaps he created some alts to set some wagers on when she'd 'fall'?
