In Erfworld, each day is called a "turn", as can be assumed by when the "turn" ends, the sun was going down. Ya know, world turning and all that.

Also, we will probably never know why he needed a giant wooden alpaca full of potato salad, but it's probably better that way.

As for Erfworld. It appears to be set inside a turn based computer strategy game. Although that doesn't explain why the gwiffion looked like a giant, flying peep. And was it just me or did the groom look an awful lot like Wilma Flintstone?

Actually, it looks to me like Erfworld is going to be using turn based strategy board or computer games as a source of humor, much like OotS uses DnD and other roleplaying games.

It's clear to me that Thog was in a Leprechaun costume, because things that are suspect seem less harmful if represented by a Leprechaun.

Thereby the citizens would be 'taken' by the Alpaca ruse and allow it into the city. Within the day of sitting in the VERY hot sun, the potato salad will have quite completely spoiled and the gases built up within will cause the Alpaca to split and create a huge mess.

This mess should be a sufficient diversion to allow them to acquire funds and means to escape the city unscathed.
