I must be missing something: How did they survive the fall out of the airship in the last comic?

Two non-sensical strips in a row, both super-sized, has me burned out. I would have loved this strip were it not on the heels of the previous one. Or had it explained the falling thing.

Airship hadn't taken off yet, they were only 5 feet off the ground.

They had not taken off yet so it was only 10-30 ft fall.

I doubt that because the last panel of the last comic clearly has them falling further than that.
