Nope. He's used illusions fairly frequently (albeit mostly to poor or zero effect).

However, I think this is the first time he's created an image other than a beautiful female of a species appropriate to the adversary he is trying to distract. In fact, didn't he once tell us his only options were a woman and a litter of puppies? (And we've never actually seen the latter, since he doesn't think it's the kind of illusion to distract a raging half-orc barbarian.)

IIRC, he used an illusion to pose as a male ogre once, in order to get past an ogre sentry.

Well, yes, that's just what's funny. You know that's Thog's weakness, and I know, because we were able to read his monologue 15 strips earlier, but Elan wasn't there at the time.
