I'm not necessarily sure that the one on the Dragon is the real Xykon. Wouldn't the real Xykon remember who Roy is?

It proves it's the real Xykon. Remember, it's a running gag that Xykon can't remember Roy or his father and doesn't care about them, even though both consider Xykon their undying nemesis.

Nope. It's been a running joke throughout the entire life of the strip. Ever since their first meeting, Xykon has constantly failed to remember who Roy is. The closest he's come is something akin to "Wait, you mean that Red-Sword guy?"

Edit: Curses! Just a hair too slow on the draw! Next time, Arden, next time!!!

I guess it's been a long time since I read the earlier strips. It's definitely the Homer/Mr. Burns type of relationship that The Grumpy Celt mentioned earlier.

I think "proves" is too strong a word, as none of the other Xykons recognized Roy either.

Though, I think the lack of a amulet and the undead dragon are give-aways.

How do you decide to fight Xykon and not get any undead-killing weapons/spells/items?

I was wondering why Belkar seemed so nice giving Roy that ring...

... so Roy could put himself in mortal danger. Makes sense.
