i don't know the new statted Death Knight but i guess his Burninator ability is spelllike and not an actual spell thus avoiding the AoO while in his prone position.

It's actually Su, and ignores SR. What puzzles me is, I thought it was only 1/day.

Concentration?

The death of the old guy is almost predictable, given the way that just about every NPC like him in the entire strip has been killed in the exact same manner: inglorious sudden decapitation or impaling by some villain Rick Burlew wants us to think is cool or threatening, without even a proper battle. It is getting very tiring and uninteresting.

I disagree. Tiring and uninteresting would be every NPC fighting it out with enemies for three strips before dying. This isn't a R. Jordan novel; we don't have to know everything about everyone. Low-level NPCs in DnD can and do die without much ceremony. That's why heroes are needed.

Hm? The only other time a combatative NPC got gacked suddenly was the police chief in Cliffport. And, let's be honest here, it's a sound outcome. The Linear Guild and the death knight are supposed to be challenges for the OoTS, who are 13-14th level each. Old General and Police Chief are nowhere near their league.

Demiurge out.

I think he just wants his players to do the killing rather than an NPC.

I thought the thread was pretty good.

I don't share your opinion at all. That part of the strip was actually rather funny.

MMII death knight, Dragonlance Campaign Setting death knight, Encyclopedia Arcane Necromancy death knight. Are there any other d20 versions?

Not AFAIK. IIRC the DL version is the MMII version with some cool extra abilities. Either way, the fireball-like ability is Su, isn't it? (Working from memory here.)
