More respectful image hotlink, as it doesn't hotlink from giantitp but from imageshack, and it's in thumbnail form (click on it for the full image).

Are people really asking for deep characterization and dramatic face-offs of bit characters in The Order of the Stick?

I thought it was all about teh phuny.

I'm kinda curious as to how the death knight didn't roast himself with his own fiery wave of whoopass there.
There are two decent clerics on the bad guy's side, Redcloak and the Huecava. Some Resist Energy (Fire) goes a long way to making sure a fake Xycon did not get fireballed off the battlemat.

Or are death knights fire immune or immune to thier own 'fireball'?

Cerebus Syndrome.

A comic all about teh phuny can either try to become serious, or let itself become stale and boring. In the first case, you may save the funny and get something like Sluggy Freelance, or you may fail lamentably as pulling a Cerebus isn't easy. In the other case, however, you ultimately obtain Garfield.

...Have you just now started reading the comic? It's been balancing comedy and drama for quite a long while now...

The death of the old guy is almost predictable, given the way that just about every NPC like him in the entire strip has been killed in the exact same manner: inglorious sudden decapitation or impaling by some villain Rick Burlew wants us to think is cool or threatening, without even a proper battle. It is getting very tiring and uninteresting.

It's either that or a bad DMPC fighter plotline, and we've already had to put up with a bad DMPC paladin plotline. I thought this was a strip about the Order of the Stick.

Surely V knows D-Door...

V cast a defense spell? I think I saw him cast Protection from Arrows a couple of times, that's about it.
