Two strips ago, I believe, when the Death Knight enters.krunchyfrogg said:Why am I having trouble finding this?
Well, why is it necessary that he dies? I mean, why not have the guy live, or at least buy time for V to do something amazing? Killing him in one panel just seems a little too simplistic a way to have the Order of the Stick shine, that is all. And the NPCs are just a bit too throwaway in the comic.moritheil said:I disagree. Tiring and uninteresting would be every NPC fighting it out with enemies for three strips before dying. This isn't a R. Jordan novel; we don't have to know everything about everyone. Low-level NPCs in DnD can and do die without much ceremony. That's why heroes are needed.

EDIT: Henry beat me to it. How can I compete with an admin?![]()
I knew the answer immediately, but I just got to the question after you did.Henry said:I'm the one who spent so much time online he knew the answer quickly -- I'd reconsider who the winner REALLY is...![]()

That emulates D&D perfectly. The foes that will challenge high level PCs kill mid level NPCs pretty easy. A 10 die fireball and a scimitar crit from a STR pumped undead SHOULD be dropping an old age guard captain.TwinBahamut said:Well, why is it necessary that he dies? And to add to frankthedm's statement: In stereotypical D&D, NPCs *are* throwaway, just like the ever forgotten familiar!TwinBahamut said:And the NPCs are just a bit too throwaway in the comic.
