I thoroughly enjoyed that strip, start to finish. The hobbo falling off the marmuk, the rising tensions of a big ass spell battle coming up - and the funny lameness of said spellduel when it all went down :D

cheers,

Hobgoblins need Bo9S... badly!
Sadly not likely to happen, since it's not Open content. Although it would be kinda funny to see a Bo9S-based character show up in a single panel before getting dragged off by legal reps of those "spooky wizards on the shoreline" :D Much like the mind flayer and the drow wizard from the original Linear Guild got dragged off.

Hey, why not the lawyers? We just saw flumphs not long ago.

Poison, unlike other spells, has a full scaling save DC. Opening up with Poison was a good move on Redcloak's part. It has a good chance of success, does Con damage and would of course reduce Fort saves. Too bad it forces a Fort save, something clerics are good at, but I don't think Redcloak had any Ref-or-suffer options.

Starting with Blindness was a bad idea.

Well, flumphs have been a recurring joke since almost the beginning.

When we saw how Redcloak created the decoys of Xykon, it included the Monster Manual 2, the Fiend Folio, and the Book of Vile Darkness for the Heuceuva, Death Knight, and Eye of Fear and Flame.

I think he can mention and use them in passing for the "parody and satire" section of fair use, just as long as he doesn't overdo it. Actually, the original appearance of the lawyers hauling off the Illithid might have been a topical joke of the time, I vaguely remember years ago some 3rd party company getting in trouble for making a book about illithid and WotC requested its destruction under the terms of the d20 STL (I'm probably horribly mangling the story and somebody else here could tell it better). Given how old the comic is and when I kinda roughly think this happened, that scene could have been a reference to that originally, with them reappearing for zz'dri being a running joke

Whenever a metamagicked spell is cast, they always mention the metamagic. The Azure cleric didn't say "Heightened Blindness" so no it was just a regular Blindness spell.
