Y'know, with the Cloaked Ghost seen with Soon, I kinda wonder if it's
either Eugene Greenhilt come to help, or it's actually Soon's long-deceased wife

It's totally the spirit of Miko's paladinhood. When she fell, her mortal body and her blessed paladin spirit split apart.
Huh! Nice. Or perhaps a honorary member of the ghost-martyrs? Like... a certain old men, who refused to come back from death?

Because he was dedicated to the same thing as Soon, and died so close to the portal... yeah, sometimes even Paladins will ignore alignments?

EDIT: Scratch that. And RangerWickett's idea as well. We've seen the hooded figure before, in the throne room... alive. Therefore, it can't be Roy as well.

Why would either of them be cloaked? Also, the second hypothesis is absolutely impossible. Otherwise
the Greek-themed pantheon would have been resurrected somehow. Killed by Snarl == killed forever.

In fact, Shojo would be a more believable bet -- and I don't believe it would be Shojo.

No, but given

A) The comment about positve energy, and more importantly

B) The long-lived friendly rivalry/ribbing between Rich and Keith

I tend to lean toward an Eberron interpretation. :)

I am too. ('Magic train' reference in an earlier strip seals the deal.)

However... I heard somewhere (I can't remember where), that Wizards took the Deathless elves concept from Rich's campaign pitch (since he was one of the 3 finalists) and merged it with what was to become Eberron.

Can anyone confirm or deny this vague rumor I might have heard?? Because if true, it adds another level of humor to '...probably homebrewed or cribbed off another campaign setting.'

The cloaked figure might have been Miko's old teacher or her father/mother. Which might open up a path for redemption - Soho is destroyed, but the cloaked figure somehow stays and will attempt to get her pupil/child back on the right track.

It might just be that she was one of the more powerful leaders of the Sapphire Guard and Miko was just inspired by her.

I was wondering about Eugene Greenhilt.

He's still in the Throne Room, isn't he? He didn't leave because he was afraid they wouldn't let him return to the material plane anytime soon, and he was summoned in the Throne Room.

Did he eventually return (and is now griping in the upper planes that if he'd just sat still for a few more days Xykon would have come to him for a chance at revenge)? Was he one of the ghosts attacking Xykon?

I'm actually looking forward to the inevitable conversation (argument?) between Roy's "ghost" and his dad's... I doubt that's something Rich will be able to stay away from.
