I'm really worried about what Miko is thinking of doing. On the one hand she is sworn to protect the gate - I can see her trying to move it, and thus perhaps accidentally opening it. I can also see her deciding that *both* sides are in the wrong (the Sapphire Guard corrupted and seeking to destroy the very thing they are sworn to protect, Xycon and Redcloak irredeemably evil and sworn enemies of the Sapphire Guard (well, at least Redcloak is)). In such a situation she may seek to protect the gate against *both* sides, allowing them to fight and weaken each other as she either seeks to attack both or move the gate - risking opening it.
If by some chance it does not open (the link above shows that moving the gate only has a possibility of opening it, not a certainty), then she will be wandering about afterwards carrying an unstable gate containing a deity-slaughtering beast from getting loose. Could it perhaps influence her through the gate? I would not think so, as it has been on the throne for so long, but if it is unstable, perhaps the Snarl can reach through and slowly twist her already twisted views, I can easily see her becoming a blackguard without realizing it (or, more likely, some third party paladinesque PrC, as the Snarl would likely not limit itself to core rules. This would also make Miko potentially more powerful and less predictable in what she can do).
On the other hand, if the OotS enters shortly after she does - with Hinjo obviously on 'their' side, I can see her snapping, as it were. I can't see her ever joining Xycon, but I can see her doing something quite foolish.
