Reminds me of the 'Feng Shui' roleplaying game.

It has rules for 'named' and 'unnamed' characters.
So don't ask bad guys for their names!

Geoff.

So does Mutants & Masterminds, though with different terminology.

Heh. We actually had almost exactly that happen in a Feng Shui game. A nameless mook failed his Arcanowave mutation roll. As he turned into a mutated monster, the GM said "and there goes poor Carl. Oh, wait - he has a name now. Hang on, I need to figure out his stats."

Every so often when travelling through the Netherworld, we'd here the echo... "Caaaaaaarrrrrllll!"

We've used that as a tactic in Feng Shui (sparingly:))

I recall that our characters were in fictional Kowloon, and needed to get from point A to Point B fast We flagged a Rickshaw driver, and promptly asked him his name.

So in the blink of an eye he went from "Generic Rickshaw Puller" to "Quick Lee Wong; Fastest Rickshaw Runner in Kowloon"
